Science Class with a Twist

The Full-Spectrum Science series with Ron Hipschman blasts visitors into an interactive learning experience on the fourth Thursday and Sunday of every month. The Exploratorium has received praise for its "eccentrically original" exhibits since its 1969 inception, emphasizing a playful approach that makes learning a lot less scary, a little more mad-scientist. Hipschman, a resident scientist at the museum, does all this and a little more: his bimonthly installments attempt to answer questions we all have about physical phenomena, from the highest pitch detectable to a human ear to the yardstick measurability of a sound. His first principle: have a great time.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
