Frisco Freakout: Show Preview

Wednesday, Oct 5 2011

Is it any wonder that a deliriously unique place like San Francisco — framed, as it is, by dizzying views, planted with ornate Victorians, and hemmed by curling seas of fog — would be a natural home for mind-bending music? Psychedelic rock was arguably perfected here in the '60s, and is currently enjoying another swell of popularity. Witness the annual Frisco Freakout, a one-day psych-rock dance party that draws some of the best purveyors of thunderous chords, lulling organs, and lysergic guitar solos. This year's bill includes such entrancing luminaries as Carlton Melton, Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound, Harderships, and more.
