Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson: Show Preview

Wednesday, Nov 9 2011

Few names in dance music carry as much resonance as Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson. Along with Belleville Three compatriot Juan Atkins, they invented the futuristic sound of Detroit techno. In-demand solo DJs in their own right, May and Saunderson have teamed up to celebrate the 25th anniversary of techno with their Hi Tek Soul tour. The show is billed as a three-hour hybrid live set and DJ performance that incorporates a bewildering array of gear, including four turntables, four CD players, a drum machine, and a keyboard. Expect to see two masters in their prime playing music which, in Saunderson's own words, is "funky, groovy, electronic soul."
