Viracocha is what you wish your house looked like — a sunlit, airy space, filled with enough trinkets and treasures to keep a guest occupied for hours. The glossy red clawfoot tub sure would look good in your bathroom, too. But Viracocha is more than a home goods store. There's the library in the back, where visitors can while away the hours with a good book. And there's its undying support of the local arts community. Whether an indie folk musician needs a location to shoot photos for her album art, a 30-man a cappella group needs an (illicit) performance space, or a group of performance artists wants to debut new work, Viracocha has always been there. And although rising rents have put pressure on the store and venue to close, owner Jonathan Siegel is applying for a permit to make Viracocha's performance space legit.
