Bad Brains: Show Preview

Bad Brains is the latest entry in the seemingly never-ending summer of old-school punk tours guaranteed to rock your ass like it's 1982. The D.C.–based Rasta punks not only pioneered hardcore more than three decades ago, but they also packed their pummeling rhythms with a paradoxical peace-groove vibe. Accordingly, the band's shows have always pulled in a strange combination of fans. In the pit, you'll run into spike-headed brawlers, banging each other's skulls with much respect for the blood rush, and on the periphery, nodding slit-eyed longhairs who dig the aggro through a yin-yang lens.

Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
