...And Then the Cowardly Lion Proved he wasn't so cowardly after all...

The competitive erotic fanfiction thing? Where six writers destroy one classic book by re-appropriating its characters? Yeah, it's been nuts since The Booksmith started its new series with Write Club SF just three months ago. From the very first passage on The Great Gatsby it was clear this was a brilliant idea, with lines like "Jay Gatsby never learned to fuck like old money." Then it was The Hobbit. This month, Charlie Jane Anders is going to help destroy The Wizard of Oz. If you know anything, that sentence alone is enough to convince you! Anders has run the monthly Writers With Drinks series for 10 years now and is a pioneer of the fictitious biographical introduction; it's like this event was made for her. But add Colin Winette, Lauren Gallagher, and Yume Kim into the mix — all hilarious and way over the top — and you need a disclaimer: Your sides will ache in the morning.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
