A Little of This, a Little of That

Wednesday, Aug 31 2011
Talkdemonic is two people making music in the high-tech/low-tech universe — like a fancy laptop bashed into an antique picture frame, the effect is pretty cool. Banjo, meet synth. Drum machine, meet drum kit. Kevin O'Connor and Lisa Molinaro love violas as well as hip-hop, and they have made it their life to show how and why in mostly instrumental ways; Pitchfork calls it "folkscape." A new album, Ruins, is due in early October on Isaac Brock's Glacial Pace label.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
