A Holiday Roast

Wednesday, Dec 4 2013

Christmas, I mean, what a weird holiday, right? It's in that spirit that the Crackpot Crones present their comedy holiday spectacular, Crones for the Holidays: The Sequel! Playwright Terry Baum (she refers to herself as "slightly" world-renowned) and comedian Carolyn Meyers are putting on a show full of sketch comedy, parody carols, a Hanukkah puppet show, and a Yuletide abortion discussion. And what better time to discuss it, when everyone's got the alleged "Immaculate" Conception at the forefront of their brains anyway? Expect your religion or holiday traditions of choice to be skewered, but know that it's all in good fun and in a way, it's being done as a tribute to the uncorrupted spirit of the holiday season. Maybe.

Saturdays, 3 & 8 p.m.; Sundays, 3 p.m. Starts: Dec. 14. Continues through Dec. 29, 2013

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
