School is in session and if you're looking for a tasty extracurricular activity for your little tikes, Bay Leaf Kitchen has just the fix.

From whole animal butchery to kitchen safety, this fall's program lineup has something for children of all ages and skill level. Their fact sheet, based on previous programs, shows some of the benefits reaped. Now if only they'd offer programs for the adult children...

Meet Your Meat
When:
 Sundays from Sept. 7-28, 1-5 p.m.
Where: CUESA outdoor kitchen at the Ferry Building
Cost: $350 includes food and transportation to camping trip
The rundown: For those in middle school, this program teaches you how to deal with all things meaty. Lessons include sausage making with the folks from 4505 Meats, cooking with chicken with Local Mission Market, and animal butchery with Dave the Butcher. The program includes an overnight trip to Magruder Ranch in Potter Valley, Calif. where the kids will get to forage for their own food and cook with Hog & Rocks' Robin Song. Other than learning how to cook, they'll learn how to do so sustainably.

Bay Leaf Roots
When:
Sunday, Sept. 21, 10 a.m.-noon
Where: CUESA outdoor kitchen
Cost: $35
The rundown: Is it ever too early to learn about cooking? Bay Leaf doesn't think so. Kids from ages 3-7 can learn to make healthy snacks and drinks using groceries bought the farmers' market, safety around the kitchen, and more about ingredients rather than memorizing recipes. A bonus feature: The teachers of this program come from another program, Jr. Chef Helpers, meaning the big kids will be leading the class.

Jr. Chef Helpers
When:
Subject to scheduling
Where: CUESA outdoor kitchen
Cost: TBD
The rundown: As mentioned before, the program revolves around big kids showing the little kids the ropes around the kitchen. Bay Leaf offers the opportunity for kids from 10-18 years old to either teach or be taught in one, single environment. This program is a 3-month commitment with at least one class per month, making for three lessons.

After all these weekends cooking, perhaps Bay Leaf can create star contestants for the next Masterchef Junior. Financial aid is available for all programs through registration.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
