4th Annual Wine Country Cocktail Competition
Where: Andaz Hotel, 1450 First Street, Napa
When: Mon., June 24th; 5-7:30 p.m.
Cost: Free, but you must RSVP and be 21 and over.
The Rundown: Napa Valley companies The Perfect Purée, Charbay Distillery & Winery, and Andaz Hotel are hosting the 4th annual battle of cocktail prowess. Tins, ice, and puree will be flying as sixteen competitors from Napa and Sonoma battle it out for top cocktail prize. Samples of the competitor's drinks and appetizers will be provided. Show Monday who's boss and get a full sized drink or two from the cash bar.
Hey Bartender Screening and Cocktail Party

When: Tues., June 25th; screening at 3 p.m., Cocktail Bootcamp from 4:30- 5:30 p.m.

The Rundown: Catch a screening of Douglas Tirola's new documentary film, Hey Bartender, which tells the story of the rise of the modern cocktail movement at the Cameo Cinema, then head over to Goose & Gander where barmen Scott Beattie and Michael Pazdon will quench the thirst you will have built up watching the film. Passed hors d'oeuvres and rustic bar bites from chef Kelly McCown help keep your strength up. Ticket price includes a copy of Scott Beattie's book, Artisanal Cocktails.
5th Annual High on the Hog: Swing, Swirl, & Swine
Where: Epic Roasthouse, 369 Embarcadero (at Folsom), 369-9955
When: Sat., June 29th; 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The Rundown: If you love pork and pinot noir , here's your chance to fill up on both at EPIC Roasthouse's bayside patio party. Live music by local band Joey Altman and the Soul Peppers will provide all day entertainment for guests, while you sip on wine from Kutch, Freeman, Cobb, Hirsch, Claypool, Flowers, Dutton Goldfield, Joseph Phelps Freestone, and MacPhail. The menu includes slow-roasted fennel porchetta, roasted manila clams with pork jowl and white beans, and homemade maple ice cream cones with bacon brittle.
Perfumology of Mixology
Where: SkyDeck (40th floor of the Mandarin Oriental), 222 Sansome (at Pine), 986-2020
When: Sat., June 29th; 2:30-5 p.m.
The Rundown: Enjoy some amazing views and gin cocktails paired with different scents. Start off with a guided intro to perfumery at 3 p.m., followed by light hors d'oeuvres and cocktails by Joel Teitelbaum. Learn how Teitelbaum interprets the texture of taste through each fragrance inspiration. A total deal and a great excuse to see the city from high above.
