Just in time for the summer beach season, a few new destinations have opened up along the coast. In Pacifica, the 140-seat Puerto 27 is now open inside the Pacifica Beach Hotel. The Peruvian-style cuisine comes courtesy of Jose Calvo-Perez, most recently of Pasion in San Francisco's Sunset District. Further down the coast in Half Moon Bay, Jersey native Don Godshall recently opened Jersey Joe's Coastside Hoagies, the sequel to his original Jersey Joe's in San Carlos. All the East Coast classics are on the menu -- it's Godshall's ode to the cheesesteaks and hoagies that he misses from home. Downtown Redwood City diners now have the chance to sample mole poblano, guajillo burritos, and more specialties of Mexico's Puebla region, at Quinto Sol. Hofbrau fans who missed the old Chick n Coop in San Francisco's Outer Sunset can cheer up. The owners haven't flown very far, opening the new Bill's Hofbrau in San Mateo. All your favorite hofbrau standards are here on the buffet line, from good old potato and macaroni salads to every imaginable roasted meat. Silicon Valley now has a sparkling new contemporary steakhouse with the mid-April opening of the Palo Alto Grill on University Avenue, in the old Miyaki space one block from the Caltrain station. It's from the owners of the now-shuttered Locanda, with Chef Ryan Shelton, formerly of Palo Alto's Michelin-starred Baumé, at the helm. The menu features a half dozen steak preparations, including a filet mignon with bacon and bourbon, but you'll also find brown-butter poached halibut with pecans and avocado corn dogs. Speaking of the former Locanda space, the four-month-old Campo Pizzeria now residing there has become Campo 185. With the new name came a new chef, Robert Holt, who brought a bolder, more rustic approach to the menu that he sharpened during his tenure at Marzano in Oakland.
