Cocktail Week Events for Tuesday, Sept. 18

Tonight's festivities include a fantastic sounding food truck event (bring warms clothes!), a vodka dinner, classic Cuban cocktails, and sexy secretaries making cocktails. No, it doesn't get better than this.

Be aware: There's a Giants home game tonight at 7:15pm, Howard street is closed between 3rd and 4th, and the Dreamforce conference starts today, so make your driving and parking plans appropriately.

Spirited Food Trucks

Where: SOMA StrEat Food Park, 428 11th St. (at Harrison)

When: 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Cost: $45 online, $55 at the door, (ticket includes voucher for one food item from the truck of your choice, additional food available for purchase)

The rundown: Showcasing how much more fun cocktails can be outside from bottles, cans, and kegs while chowing down on some food truck grub is what tonight's main event is all about. Rye on the Road will have bottled cocktails, kegs full of boozy goodness will flow thanks to Jasper's Corner Tap, 15 Romolo will be serving freshly canned cocktails, and Elixir will serve up carbonated cocktails A.K.A. "bubble bath for your liver."

Smuggler's Cove and Denizen Rum Bar La Floridita Happy Hour

Where: Smuggler's Cove, 650 Gough (at McAllister)

When: 5 p.m. - 9 p.m.

The rundown: Four full hours of $7 classic rum drinks made famous by the Bar La Floridita in Havana, Cuba, in the 1920's and 30's whipped up by folks who know a thing or two about rum. Featuring the brand new Denizen Rum, a tasty blend of aged Jamaican and Trinidadian rum from the Angostura distillery, the flavor has been described as very close to pre-Castro Cuban rum.

25 Lusk & Hangar One Present An Indian Summer Dinner

Where: Twenty Five Lusk, 25 Lusk (at Townsend)

When: 7 p.m.

Cost: $95 (tax and gratuity not included); call 415-495-5875 for a reservation

The rundown: Three courses paired with three cocktails featuring Hangar One vodka and ingredients from the restaurant's farm by chef Matthew Dolan and bar manager Brian McKelvey.

Intoxicating Ladies, the Women Behind The Stick and the Cocktails

Where: Rye, 688 Geary (at Leavenworth)

When: 8 p.m. - 2 a.m.

The rundown: LUPEC (Ladies United in the Preservation of Endangered Cocktails) is putting the spotlight on the women of the bar industry with spirits brands owned, distilled, or created by women. Don't let the fact that they're dressed up as sexy secretaries fool you--they're running the show, just like usual.
