Fiestas Patras, the Peruvian Independence Day, takes place on July 28, but conscientious Bay Area eaters can turn this into a two-day party.

The night before (July 27), celebrate with live Criollo music from 6 to 9 p.m. in the rose garden of Berkeley chicken rotisserie bistro Brasa (formerly eVe). All-you-can-eat pollo is $20 for adults and $10 for children. Advance tickets are recommended and are available via Eventbrite.

On the official holiday (July 28), La Mar Cebicheria Peruana offers $5 pisco sours all day and live Criollo music from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The regular menu is available, but chef Diego Oka is preparing a holiday cebiche special as well as cuy (guinea pig). Hey, if you're going to celebrate, you might as well go all-out.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
