  • I have very special food porn for you this week: It's sweet and salty ice cream layer cake from Keepin' It Kind! It looks super-pretty, but listen to what it's composed of: balsamic beet sorbet, mango lassi ice cream, salted maple caramel crunch, and coconut pound cake. Say goddamn, right? Well, I'm not the only one who thought this cake was awesome; it's the winner of Post Punk Kitchen's Chopped Vegan recipe contest, dessert round! Congrats, girlfriend.

  • John Salley, whom I'm totally familiar with because I'm so sporty, is starring in some pro-vegan billboards in Detroit. For some reason, no one wants me to have a picture to show you. It's part of the general conspiracy to keep me under the thumb of The Man. I'm sorry I've brought you into the middle of it.
  • Anne Hathaway has been eating vegan to stay skinny. Snore. But I love her work in that princess film. Excellent film.
  • Check it out, bros: Vegan Corner is our answer to Yelp, and so much more. And they need your help to make it super! I know, sometimes it's like, "OMG, another fundraising page." But I'm kind of all about them now because I'm obsessed with the "perks" you can get! I think I'm in love with limited-edition stuff. And the perks for Vegan Corner are kind of awesome. I wish I had a few Gs to donate!

  • This is my favorite story: some young gorillas in Rwanda totally deactivated some evil traps! Like, on purpose. People have seen old gorillas do it, but not youngsters. These gorillas are 4 years old. When I was four, I couldn't do anything. I mean, I was whiney and functionally illiterate! And I wasn't even vegan. Bleh.
  • According to People, the only news source I trust, P!nk and her man enjoyed a lovely veggie meal at Prospect in S.F. Prospect doesn't seem super-vegan but apparently the couple ate vegetarian and Carey Hart found some dairy-free items to dine on. Personally, I love P!nk like whoa. Even the exclamation point. Okay not the exclamation point but everything else.
  • Um, some astronauts are totally going to Mars and are totally going to be vegan. I'm not even kidding you. If you think I'm kidding you, I'm here to tell you I'm not. This is my favorite quote from the post: "Former astronauts insist that eating the same boring freeze-dried food at every meal can be demoralizing." DEMORALIZING. Damn, I didn't know it was that bad. But vegan food should have them feeling much less demoralized. You go, spacepeople!
  • Surprise, surprise, proposed welfare measures for egg-laying hens have pig and cattle producers super-scared! I mean, what if they have to treat their animals with a modicum of decency? The horror!
  • Lastly, baby snow leopard cubs. Which leads me to my main point: I need a purse snow leopard.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
