An East Coast treat that's rare on the streets of San Francisco should be rolling into town soon, thanks to a caterer with food truck dreams. Alexis LeCount started Lexie's Frozen Custard while still the pastry chef at the Palace Cafe in Sunnyvale. She now spends her days catering and closing in on her goal of taking her business mobile, thanks to public support as well as a loan from Youth Business America.
Her successful Kickstarter campaign funds on June 24, but there's still time to donate and receive rewards such as gift cards and personalized frozen custard cakes.
"It's the best soft serve ice cream you'll ever have," LeCount raves of the fresh milk and cream creations on her Kickstarter video. In a departure from what's typically seen over in the Atlantic region, she uses local and organic ingredients and makes everything by hand, including cakes and non-frozen custard selections such as brownies, chocolate chip cookies, and lemon bars.
LeCount has not yet set the debut date or locations for her truck, but her Twitter feed will announce any updates.
