There are restaurants that specialize in fried chicken and restaurants known for their fried chicken specials. Thomas Keller's Ad Hoc may be the most famous of the latter -- his chicken has become so renowned it was given its own restaurant, Addendum, this summer.

For this week's full-length review in the paper, I paid visits to three SF bistros that have recently added, or changed up, weekly fried chicken specials: Firefly's fried chicken Tuesday, Magnolia's fried chicken Thursday (now under the aegis of newly returned chef Ronnie New), and Local: Mission Eatery's fried chicken Friday. Fried chicken, after all is an easy sell, even at bistro prices. Have a slow night? Make it a fried chicken night!

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
