Lobster Bake, Meet Food Trucks

Sam's Lobster Fest

Where: American Legion Post 474 fairgrounds, 470 Capistrano (at Prospect), Half Moon Bay, 650-728-9224

When: Sun., May 15, noon-5 p.m.

Cost: Free admission; food tickets, $1 each; discount for advance purchase online ($10 for 12 tickets, $20 for 25, $50 for 60, plus a $20 all-day pass for kids); $30 lobster bake (preordering is essential)

The rundown: Sam's Chowder House is organizing this family-friendly Maine lobster cookout (called "first annual") to boost the American Legion's Coastside Fireworks fund. Live music, wine tasting, oyster-shucking and -eating contest, hay rides, silent auction, and more. The festival food is being supplemented by food trucks: Sam's own ChowderMobile, the Southern Sandwich Co., (http://www.southernsandwich.com/) and a rare visit by San Jose's Treatbot ice cream truck.
