Emergency Benefit for Victims of Fire at Mission and Valencia

Where: El Rio, 3158 Mission (at Precita), 282-3325

When: Tonight, Apr. 8, 8 p.m.-2 a.m.

Cost: Donations accepted at the door

The rundown: The fire that ripped through 3212 Mission (at 29th St.) Wednesday night did more than devastate Lotus Garden: It left as many as a dozen tenants homeless, their clothes and other possessions gone. Tonight's El Rio fundraiser promises music (DJ Hard French), drinks (duh), and a raffle (likely swag: a massage and facial, among other stuff). Get there early: El Rio says it'll donate 100 percent of drink proceeds between 8 and 9 p.m. directly to the displaced. You can also donate through PayPal at

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
