Hops to Homebrew

Where: Ferry Building Marketplace, CUESA Dacor Teaching Kitchen, 1 Ferry Building (at Embarcadero)

When: Thu., Feb. 17, 5:30-8 p.m.

Cost: $62

The rundown: If you're feeling sulky this week that the big boys get to tinker with beer while you're forced to ah, drink it, Urban Kitchen SF has a workshop for you. Eric Denham, the mysterious "Eric" behind Mission Gastroclub, is emerging from the shadows to reveal how you, too, can become a successful brew baron at home. With lessons for the baby brewer and the expert alike, this class also features a homemade malt lesson from Nigel Walker of Eatwell Farm. Everyone who attends gets a 10 percent coupon for San Francisco Brewcraft, not to mention ingredients, recipes, and an extract starter kit. Oh, and the class is BYOB, if you need to drink while you learn (keeps the hands steady).

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
