New Year's Eve Celebration 2011

Where: Radius, 1123 Folsom (at Langton)

Cost: First seating (5:30-6:30 p.m.), $60 for three courses; second seating (8:30-9:30 p.m.), $85 for four courses and sparkling wine toast

Why it's likely to be special: Chef Kelly Hughett's cooking has depth, without appearing to try too hard. That, plus you'll have plenty of options for grabbing even more drinks on Folsom after you've nibbled Hughett's last post-check mignardise

Menu highlights: terrine of chicken, foie gras, and black truffle; seared scallops with ice wine-marinated cauliflower florets and brown butter cauliflower purée (second seating only); red wine-braised beef short rib with celeriac purée

Reserve: Online through OpenTable, or call 525-3676

The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
