The past 24 hours in gossip, innuendo, and cold hard facts about the

San Francisco restaurant scene.

Tablehopper reports that Pasión (737 Irving, 724-5727, should open in the old PJ's Oyster Bed space on December 30. The pitch: "modern Latin" food from the owners of the Fresca restaurants; includes a ceviche bar, a wood-burning grill, and a big wine list.

Inside Scoop reports that Coda, the 18-month-old Mission supperclub, will be closing after New Year's Eve. Reason cited: the recession.

Mission Mission obtains photographic evidence that the Papa Potrero's (2700 24th Street) pizza parlor has perished, though it must not have been due to direct competition ― Flour + Water, Beretta, and Pi Bar aren't particularly close.

Tablehopper says that the beleagured plan to install a Whole Foods Market on the corner of Dolores and Market is moving forward again. (Right across from Safeway and Golden Produce? This seems like Starbucks thinking.) SFoodie lives near the new Whole Foods on Stanyan and Haight, and we'd say that the construction appears to be in its final phase, with the exterior renovations almost completed.

One last Tablehopper note: Last week, Beast and the Hare in the Mission began serving takeout lunches on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. They plan to add bike delivery soon.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
