In our copious chocolate samplings, we've only encountered one other candy maker who combined garlic with dark chocolate, but without the confidence to offer up the results for sale (probably a good thing). Now, Vice Chocolates offers a dark chocolate bonbon with garlic ganache.

What works in Vice's case is that the garlic is roasted, though depending on your palate, the flavor can come across as either subtle or extreme. It screamed garlic to us, while a friend couldn't detect it ― try for yourself at Oakland's Temescal Sunday farmers' market, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
