It's easy to take for granted the edible goods from Marin farms. Knowing what's kept some of those farmlands from turning into subdivisions is a bit harder, but chances are the Marin Agricultural Land Trust (MALT) had something to do with it.

MALT, in a nutshell, is an agricultural conservation program that has preserved more than 41,000 acres of Marin farmland. It was founded by dairywoman Ellen Straus, of the Straus dairy farming family, along with wetlands biologist Phyllis Faber.

Continuing this preservation requires dough, of course. That's where Saturday's Pinot Noir MALT benefit in Larkspur comes in. Pours from Dutton-Goldfield, Kendric Vineyards, Orogeny, Pey-Marin Vineyards, Point Reyes Vineyards, Sean Thackrey, Stubbs Vineyard, Thomas Fogarty Winery, Vergari Wines, Skywalker Ranch, Vision Cellars, and Willowbrook Cellars. Locally produced foods will make an appearance, and wines by the bottle and case will be for sale at discounted prices.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
