The list of things we love about the Dogpatch has now grown even longer. Aside from 260 sunny days in a year (on average) and the best burgers in the city at Serpentine, there's Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous, the new old-fashioned ice cream and sweet shop from pastry chefs and owners Ian Flores and Anabelle Topacio.

The ice cream menu features a miscellany of classic American flavors combined with a few quirky creations. There's vanilla bean, chocolate chip, coffee, and mint cookie and then there's the Ballpark: Anchor Beer, peanuts and chocolate pretzels. Beer, chocolate and peanuts go extraordinarily well together and we loved how the Ballpark captures those flavors wonderfully without being too over the top. We thought the choco-malted crunch was deeply rich and sweet, which went very well with their choquettes ― pillowy puffs covered with crunchy nuggets of sugar. Homemade toppings like fudge, caramel, butterscotch, and pineapple are also available for those who wish to indulge in a sundae.

In the sweet shop, they have chocolate chip pecan cookies, chocolate chip muffins, crispy peanut brittle, and peanut butter malt balls that were seriously addicting. Flores and Topacio make all their ice cream, confections, and baked sweets from scratch at the store using organic, seasonal, and local ingredients

It's about time that the sunniest neighborhood in the city had its own ice cream and sweet shop! We'll definitely be back for more.

Now open:

Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous 699 22nd St. (at Third St.); open daily, 11:30 a.m.-8 p.m.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
