As we described in this week's 7-Day Dish e-mail newsletter, you can avoid the yearly trap of guzzling green beer for six hours straight without a food break at The Liberties. The Mission pub is stretching out the festivities over several days, and you can bring the family, or your dog, which might be sort of the same thing.
Starting Saturday, it's the Liberties' Week of Long Pours (Guinness, Kilkenny draught, Red Breast 12-year-old whisky, Black Bush), with hearty brunch, lunch and dinner plates to soak up the booze. Granted, it's only a five-day week, and yes, there's standard corned beef and cabbage ($13.95) or cottage pie ($12.95), made by owner Kjerstie Utting, but you can also swoop in on a curried samosa ($7.95) made with Irish bacon, black pudding, and curried potatoes. Walk-ins are okay, or reserve a table. And no, you can't reserve anything on St. Patrick's Day itself, so don't even try.
