From the official Ubuntu press release:
"We have been delighted to work with Jeremy on the creation of this great restaurant," says Ubuntu Owner Sandy Lawrence. "Jeremy was instrumental in opening and creating the foundation for Ubuntu which helped establish the restaurant as a leading Northern California destination, we wish him all the best in his future endeavors. We look forward to Chef Aaron London ushering the restaurant into its next chapter."
Last Wednesday's news that Fox was out unleashed a tide of unconfirmed rumors of turmoil at the Napa restaurant and yoga studio with a national following. Late last week, Fox told us he was unable to comment, while a spokeswoman for Lawrence promised an announcement that would answer all the rumors. Score that last part a FAIL. It's still unclear why Fox left, and what will happen to his ownership interest in Ubuntu. The fate of the Ubuntu cookbook Fox has been working on is also in limbo (the manuscript was reportedly due to wrap this summer).
For his part, Fox seems to have gotten way the hell out of town. A tweet from last Friday revealed he was heading somewhere in the direction of Southern California: "I-5 has never been so pungent. Lost my steak craving." Nobody said it was easy being chef of a vegetarian restaurant.
