Coast Down to Santa Cruz for Saturday's Clam Chowder Cook-Off

Posted By on Tue, Feb 16, 2010 at 12:00 PM

The 29th Annual Santa Cruz Clam Chowder Cook-Off & Festival, a benefit for the city's Parks and Rec Department, is set to steam up the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk on Saturday. It should provide excellent cover for adults looking for an excuse to ride the Sea Swings. Parks and Rec hopes to exceed the $66,000 raised last year. That's an awful lot of bowls of Boston and Manhattan goodness.

Event details:
29th Annual Santa Cruz Clam Chowder Cook-Off & Festival
Date: Sat., Feb. 20, 1 p.m.
Location: Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk (400 Beach at Riverside, Santa Cruz)
Cost: Free admission/$8 tasting kits

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
