Guess whose birthday it is? No, not Jesus. Boundary-pushing ice creamery Humphry Slocombe is 1 year old. To celebrate, the Mission District shop at 2790 Harrison (at 24th St.) is handing out free slices of birthday cake today starting at noon and for as long as it lasts. It's no ordinary cake, either. The chocolate sheet cake (decorated with fondant ice cream cone) is by Lori Baker, co-chef and co-owner of brand-new Baker & Banker (1701 Octavia at Bush). Turns out Baker and Jake Godby, Humphry's quirky genius, are good friends (they used to work together at Fifth Floor back in the day). And until her own restaurant launched, Baker used to make Humphry's bacon peanut brittle (now made in house). Show up early as you can: Baker says the cake should serve about 80, but there's no sense pushing your luck. Especially after raves like this.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
