A subscription to San Francisco journal Meatpaper ($28 for four issues, published quarterly) would be both a thoughtful holiday gift as well as a creative way to educate a loved one on, say, the ethics of eating the flesh of seals or the superiority of lard in baking pies, all while giving them some carnivorous eye candy.

Keep in mind that supporting Meatpaper through this means rather than the newsstand also contributes to the publication's ability to throw amazing, open-to-the-public shindigs like its Meat & Greet. Subscriptions are purchased via PayPal, so it's also a good use for extra cash accumulated through an eBay account or similar.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
