Hippie alert: San Francisco Food Not Bombs is planning its annual Soupstock conference and concert, May 23 and 24. The conference promises to consist mostly of small-group talks on how people are making a positive impact on our local food system, and SFFNB is currently accepting proposals for workshops. It goes down Saturday, May 23, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the 5Lower Shop (992 Peralta at Tompkins).

Meanwhile, the concert will feature a free potluck, which attendees are invited to volunteer for or contribute to -- bring enough for 500! (Not really.) Live music courtesy of Bonfire Madigan, Otto Mobile, and more apparently "worth-your-while" artists and speakers, to be announced. It happens Sunday, May 24, from noon to 7 p.m. at the cute and cozy Jerry Garcia Amphitheater (45 Shelly Dr. in McLaren Park). Like SFFNB's other fun events, both the Soupstock conference and concert are free, though, naturally, donations are going to be appreciated.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
