San Francisco County Fair Building in Golden Gate Park

San Francisco Vegetarian Society and In Defense of Animals took over the San Francisco County Fair Building in Golden Gate Park for World Veg Festival Weekend. The two-day event brought a plethora of vegan and vegetarian food, fashion and sympathetic causes that added up to the components of a cruelty-free lifestyle.
Vegans have long gotten a bad rap for bad cooking. But the art and the bar has been raised in recent years, and this was a great place to taste that.
Cafe Gratitude has several locations in S.F. and the Bay Area. It's gotten a lot of teasing for its hippie-tastic "I Am" menu items, but this looked yummy. They sampled their delicious frozen cashew cream that they sell at their restaurants, and said they're endeavoring to get it stocked on select grocery shelves soon.
Lydia's Organics of Fairfax had the prettiest, most food porn worthy spread, but we did find the raw green soup a daunting challenge for this particular Sunday.
One of the great personal failures of the day was missing the performance from the vegan acrobat; I wish I would have seen that as opposed to the vegan rocker.
This looked like the best kitchen tool for bright bowls of zucchini spaghetti or cucumber fettucini.
Respect to PETA and its mission, but this bumper sticker was the most nauseating thing I've seen in a while (which I realize is the goal). This was the type of fest where you had to take the good (the food) with the bad (the harsh reality of animal abuse).
The space was an unexpected hotbed of veggie style. We leave you with the hot new looks for the season!
