There's always something to celebrate this time of year, and if it involves cut-rate liquor, live music, and gourmet munchies, all the better. Tonight Solstice Restaurant and Lounge (2801 California at Divisadero) in Pacific Heights will celebrate its Five Year Anniversary Party beginning with an extended happy hour from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. with $2 off special drinks and appetizers (I hear the Kobe beef sliders and gorgonzola mac'n'cheese are delectable) and $3 pints of Anderson Valley's Summer Solstice Cerveza Crema (from the folks who brought you Boont) all night long. DJ Chris Vargas will heat things up and at 8:00 local funkmeisters Katdelic Revival will perform -- no cover. Not too shabby for a Thursday night. For information call 415-359-1222.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
