The James Beard Award nominees have been announced, and the Bay Area has fared well this time around. Local favorites Slanted Door and Boulevard are both up for honors in the Outsanding Restaurant category. A16 Chef Nate Appleman is shortlisted in the Rising Star Chef of Year category. In the Best Chef Pacific category Michael Tusk (Quince), Craig Stoll (Delfina), Douglas Keane (Cyrus - Healdsburg), and David Kinch (Manresa - Los Gatos) all made the cut. Good luck to all the nominees. Check out the full list -- including more Bay Area contenders -- at the James Beard Foundation.

The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
