Snickers' newest variation is called the Charged bar and it's chock full of caffeine, taurine and B vitamins. It carries a jolt roughly equal to a cup of coffee. Here's some promo copy for the ridiculous marketing campaign, via : junkfoodblog:
"To meet consumer needs and help millions of Americans take back their energy-zapped afternoons, SNICKERS(R) Brand is proclaiming the post-lunch, pre-dinner hour between two and three p.m. the SNICKERS Charged(TM) Re-Power Hour."
Yes, by all means, let's designate an hour a day to eat caffeinated Snickers bars, especially since -- while chocolate's always been great -- it's never actually been addictive until now. This dietician was quoted in a recent NY Daily News story:
"It will trigger withdrawal symptoms [if you stop eating them]," she said. "You'll be getting headaches, you'll be unable to sleep."
Awesome. Thanks Snickers!
