Thunder Parley, Google Food Critic

Posted By on Wed, Jan 16, 2008 at 12:49 PM

Can I just start by saying I want a name like 'Thunder Parley.' Now that I've got that off my chest, here's the scoop: Parley, a software engineer at Google, is also the company's de facto food critic. The L.A. Times ran a fawning profile the foodie behind Google's in-house review email, which is such a hit that apparently Google's stable of chefs now compete for Parely's favor, busting out dishes according to his personal tastes. Thunder's influence reaches so far, in fact, that he's been placed on the chef hiring committee. Not a bad gig, if you can get it. (via Gridskipper)

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
