A fire casts a warm glow on an ornate rug. Relaxed couples mill about, enjoying deviled eggs, beef satay, and cocktails. A woman with star-shaped pasties is bound in ropes, smiling, and hanging from the ceiling. A black-haired beauty in white lace and antlers prances around her, playing the fawn and bending over to endure the crack of a leather flogger.

This is the third year of New Bohemia, the New Year’s Eve party organized by Opel and Vau De Vire at the Armory, headquarters of kink.com. Downstairs, in the Vau De Vire green room, another fawn is getting into costume. An airbrush artist, C-squared, is putting the finishing touches on Brandon Kazen-Maddox, who’ll be doing acrobatics, dancing, and just being sexy.

“Making people jizz everywhere,” he jokes. “That’s my job.”

"If you talk or yell out punchlines, we will send you to Shady Pines," threatens the disembodied voice of Dorothy Zbornak (Heklina) as the raucous audience settles down for The Golden Girls: The Christmas Episodes. It's been happening for 10 years now, and this version is bittersweet: Cookie Dough, who played Sophia Petrillo, passed away unexpectedly last winter. (She is the dedicatee of 2015's go-round.)

As even the most casual fan of Absolutely Fabulous knows, one of the greatest episodes — if not the greatest — takes place on New Year's Eve, when Eddie Monsoon is itching to go to the ultimate underground party in London (Frankie Knuckles' CD-ROM Dance Happening). It turns out to be rather far away and quite literally subterranean ("in an underground car park in Romsey," as Eddie's addled besty, Patsy Stone, says).

Here we are... on the naughty list. - SHUTTERSTOCK/STEPHEN FINN

San Francisco chose the wrong time of year to be naughty.

With Christmas just two weeks away, the last thing Santa Claus needs is a reason to triple-check his list before takeoff on his merry sled. Unfortunately, the tattletales at Rent.com took it upon themselves to ruin Christmas in San Francisco and announce to the whole world that we’ve been naughty where it hurts the most: our wallets.

Expect plenty of coal this holiday season.

Listen up, San Francisco. It’s time to sit up straight, watch the language and put your best face forward because we’ve got company.

The folks over at finance site WalletHub named San Francisco the fifth best travel destination in America for winter getaways. Sure, it’s a few spots shy of number one but we're still wearing a light jacket while the majority of the country is in a deep freeze. So, we're winning on our book. Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
