For the last few years, the Rockit Room was the center of live entertainment in San Francisco's Richmond District, a place in the Avenues where musical stars of all genres could find comfort. Though club recently morphed into Neck of the Woods, it is keeping its tradition of hosting live music and stand-up comedy showcases.

The Comedy Stars Pro Showcase, however, is no open mic night, instead featuring seasoned vets of the San Francisco scene such as Bob Sarlatte (the annual emcee of San Francisco's Comedy Day), Michael Meehan (a comic/painter/sculptor), and Will Durst (who podcasts with former Mayor Willie Brown). Host Danny Dechi claims not only to be a comedian, but also the world's only pencil musician, with no erasers required. Expect astute observations about life in the wonderfully freaky Bay Area and an honest and unflinching dose of political absurdity.

The Comedy Stars Pro Showcase starts at 8 p.m. on Jan. 15 at Neck of the Woods. Admission is $8.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
