Come out and show some love for the youngest and brightest up-and-coming artists and performers at the Second Annual San Francisco Youth Arts Summit. Youth leaders from prominent San Francisco advocacy groups have joined forces to showcase young artists' works which spans all realms of artistic expression.
The event is being organized by the Out of Site Youth Arts Center, a nonprofit that provides free visual and performing arts programs and paid internships for public high school students in the city.
The summit features a full day itinerary of fun, interactive, and unique art-related events, including: poetry, theater, printmaking, and video workshops with WritersCorps, SF Mime Troupe, Chrysalis Studio and TILT. You can even create your own art, such as prints to trade through Out of Site's bartering bank and ATM (Art That Matters) machine or your own stop-motion video with the Mobile Animation Studio led by the Children's Creativity Museum's C.I.T.Y. Teen Program. Spontaneous performances and film screenings will be happening throughout the day, and the day culminates with a performance competition, open to all high school students for the chance to perform on the main stage and win cash prizes.
The Second Annual San Francisco Youth Arts Summit starts at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 8 at SOMArts, 934 Brannan (at Eighth St.), S.F. All exhibits, performances, workshops, and food are free for the public. Support youth art!
